Nagaland’s famous Hornbill Festival now has become Assam’s responsibility to promote and give it a much vibrant and worldwide exposure.
Tourism minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma on a visit to Kohima said that the Hornbill Festival of Nagaland, has been included in Dispur’s programme to endorse and promote tourism in the Northeast as a single circuit.
BJP’sgeneral secretary, Ram Madhav, along with Sarma met Nagaland chief minister Shürhozelie Liezietsu of DAN party at his private residence at Ruleizou, Kohima on Sunday.
Both the BJP leaders congratulated Shürhozelie for taking charge as chief minister on Wednesday. The BJP also is a part of the ruling DAN government.
Hornbill Festival is held every year from 1st to 10th December at Kisama, the Naga Heritage village. It is a huge tourist attraction.
Sarma, who also is the convener of the North East Democratic Alliance (Neda), mentioned that discussions will be organized in the next meeting of the alliance for ensuring all-round development of the NE region.
T.R. Zeliang, DAN coordination committee chairman and adviser (finance) and former Nagaland chief minister was also present at the meeting.
