Assamese Sahitya Akademi Award winner (for Katha Ratnakar, 2009) Dhrubajyoti Borah released his first novel in English, ‘The Sleepwalker’s Dream’, a literary fiction on Assam insurgency.
The story revolves around a a group of young insurgents who fled their camp after an attack by the authorities and finds a safe haven in the Himalayan forest between Bhutan and Assam border.
The narrator of the story, June, a young orphaned girl, who was under the care of her aunt, had been recruited in one terrorist organization by one youth, to join their ‘movement’. June. slowly, adapts to their ideologies and way of living playing the role of a mother to this group of men.
Borah, who is also a doctor by profession, has written fiction and non-fiction including novels, monographs on history, travelogues and collections of articles in Assamese.
