A first of its kind the Northeast Film Company emerges as a start-up in the region, which will start a production house in Assam to generate media content about the Northeast and market at the global environment.
Led by Assam actor and model Dipannita Sharma along with director Saugat Bhattacharya and cinematographer Ronjoy Borthakur, the start-up, aims to identify, support and motivate regional talent and inspire them to compete with the world’s best through their production house.
It plans to expand its studio in the first five years, motivating film-related businesses in the other sister states and invite global tourism into the region.
“Our aim is to distribute films of the Northeast on the national platform. As the first step, we are now planning to produce three films and two web series. We are also starting a talent hunt in Assam and the rest of the Northeast. We will engage them in our mission,” Borthakur told news daily The Telegraph.
“If anyone comes forward with a good script or a concept then we will welcome him or her always. We will promote and distribute the production with the expertise of Bollywood. Hope we will get success,” he added.
Dipannita Sharma, the branded actress from Assam has walked the ramp for major international design houses such as Valentino and Fendi. She has acted in more than 10 films.
Also, Saugat Bhattacharya the Mumbai-based filmmaker and entrepreneur, has produced and directed over 100 commissioned projects.
Further Ronjoy Borthakur is a Mumbai-based writer and cinematographer who has written a graphic novel – Heavens Unleashed.
