New York Film academy, a prestigious institution for arts and film making, selected an Assam boy: Abhinav Saikia. For his works and efforts, he managed a scholarship too for it.
Beyond thrilled Abhinav told Voice of Greater Assam, “I admit that it is far from what I expected when I applied for it, despite having dreams in my mind like a child has his fantasies.”
He also claimed, “I am not sure, but till date, no one from Assam ever got into NYFA, Brooklyn, New York.” This makes him first Assamese to grab hold on this credit from the state.
“I will learn there and then I will come back and I will work for the Assam film industry and promote our northeast,” he said.
Born and bought up in Duliajan, Abhinav is currently engaged in making abstractly perceived music video for a group of musicians, not to mention the everyday knick-knacks that he captures without the slightest thought of getting them published.
A student of Kaziranga University, perusing Computer Science Engineering (7th Sem) revealed his secret of getting select as – “Perhaps what allowed me notice in the vast pile of entries was my perception of things as they ought to be, not as they are, which I try to reflect, as accurately, as possible in my work.”
Abhinav also says,” Despite having the ambition to make an impact in the world as seen through lenses, I also want to keep on learning as much more as I possibly can in every single moment experiencing life. With the desire to have a chance to collaborate with the people that I have admired and have been inspired by. And someday perhaps even inspire them in return.”
