A security personnel allegedly molested a woman passenger on board the Dibrugarh-New Delhi Rajdhani Express after the train left Patna railway station on Monday night, railway police said.
The suspect was nabbed at the Mughalsarai railway station on Tuesday morning.
The victim boarded the New Delhi-bound train number 12423 from Dibrugarh and alleged that Mukesh Kumar molested her when the train immediately departed from Patna railway station after its brief halt there. The woman raised an alarm immediately, and the travelling ticket examiner rushed to her aid.
Police said the TTE instantly informed the control room at Mughalsarai railway station. After the train reached the station around 1am, Government Railway Police (GRP) inspector RK Singh and Railway Protection Force (RPF) sub-inspector Rana Singh got on the train. The Police took Kumar into custody.
A case has been registered against the accused under Section 354 of the Indian Penal Code (assault or criminal force on woman with intent to outrage her modesty) based on the woman’s complaint.
Inspector RK Singh of the GRP revealed the identity of Kumar as army jawan during interrogation. He belongs to Gurugram and is posted in Assam.
